UCLA PEG Brain and Gut Study / Estudio de Cerebro e Intestino de UCLA PEG

We are looking for volunteers with Parkinson's disease and one household member to participate in our study

What is the PEG Brain and Gut Microbiome Study?

The UCLA PEG Brain and Gut Study aims to discover how the bacteria in our gut play a role in brain health. This may provide future therapeutic opportunities for Parkinson’s patients.

Gut bacteria digest our food. The nutrients and chemicals they produce enter the blood stream and can reach the brain. The brain directs your digestion through the nervous system.
Scientists now believe that the brain also reacts to signals sent from the gut and its bacteria. A disruption of this relationship may lead to health issues.
